Why does perfume last differently on different people?Updated 6 hours ago
How long a perfume lasts depends on several factors. An Eau de Parfum (EDP) typically lasts 5 to 8 hours, but your skin’s oil level, pH, and moisture all affect how the scent develops. Oily skin can enhance certain notes, while drier skin may cause the fragrance to fade more quickly.
Your sense of smell also plays a role. Some people are more sensitive to woody or spicy notes, while others pick up floral or sweet elements more strongly. Wearing a scent regularly can also make your nose get used to it, so it might seem like it fades even if others still notice it.
Application technique, environment, and temperature all influence longevity too: warm weather can intensify a fragrance, while cooler temperatures may soften it. If you feel the scent has disappeared, ask someone else to smell it on you. Your nose may just have adapted to it.
